What are the three types of EV charging?

Level 1 charger also known as a trickle charger, offers the lowest range-per-hour charging specification, offering a range of 3 to 5 miles per hour. However, Level 1 chargers are ideal for hybrid vehicles, non-daily drivers, or drivers who only drive their EV about 40 miles a day.

Type NO.2: Level 2

Level 2 charging is faster than Level 1 and can be done at home or at public charging stations. All you need is a charger that plugs into your car's port. it’s also a bit faster and uses a 240-volt outlet.

Charge level 2 is the most commonly used charge level for the daily charging of electric vehicles. It can be installed in homes, workplaces, and public places such as shopping malls and train stations. It can achieve a range of 12 to 80 miles per hour, depending on the power output of the Level 2 charger and the vehicle's maximum charge rate.

Type NO.3: Level 3

Level 3 charging is the fastest and uses a 480-volt outlet. This type of charger is best for people who need to charge their vehicles quickly.

This level enables the battery to be charged at a rate of 75 - 1200 miles per hour. However, this type of fast charging requires advanced infrastructure that is often not found in residential areas.

Moreover, such fast charging can cost tens of thousands of dollars, so even if your residence has a 400-volt electricity service, it will likely cost more to install the charger than your electric vehicle.

This DC fast charging is the "first" of three faster ways to charge electric vehicles, restoring a car's battery to 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes, and allowing the vehicle to travel a range of 120km.

The operating voltage ranges from 110 to 400 volts. This type is suitable for use in companies and small paid parking lots. You can install it on the wall or use it with the pole, the installation is easy and convenient.
