Ford's new SuperVan debuted at Goodwood

At the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, the new Ford Pro SuperVan made its world debut. This car was developed by Ford Performance and Austrian STARD Racing Company, and the exterior design comes from Ford Design Center in Cologne, Germany. It is equipped with four motors, with a total output of about 2,000 horsepower, and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of less than two seconds.

The new Ford Pro SuperVan is the fourth generation. In 1971, Ford launched its first SuperVan. Ford combined the GT40 chassis and 435-horsepower V8 engine with the first-generation Transit van. This ‘violent van’ could reach a top speed of 150 miles per hour (about 240km/h).

The second-generation was launched in 1984 and further improved on the configuration of the previous model. This model used a fiberglass version of the body and applied the structure of the Ford Racing C100 and the engine output A 590-horsepower Cosworth V8.

The third-generation was released in 1994 and used a Cosworth HB engine with an output of 650 horsepower that was homologous to the F1 car at that time.

The fourth-generation SuperVan model released this time is designed based on a pure electric commercial vehicle, and uses a steel three-dimensional frame and lightweight composite body panels. The body is equipped with a special-shaped front fixed air wing, side skirts and rear air diffuser, as well as a radial line cut at the rear and an airflow drainage rear wing in the shape of a dorsal fin.

This model has a full-spec roll cage and racing-style seats that meet FIA safety standards. It uses a racing steering wheel and a touchscreen with the same SYNC system as the Ford Mustang Mach-E. The car is even equipped with road mode, track mode, straight-line acceleration mode, drift mode and other driving modes and also a pit speed limiter.

As for the power, the four-motor all-wheel drive system on the Ford Pro SuperVan can output about 2000 horsepower, 0-100km/h acceleration time is less than two seconds, and uses a custom 50kWh liquid-cooled battery pack to cleverly achieve the best distribution of body weight and the low center of gravity layout. In addition, this power system is fully charged in about 45 minutes.

This car shows the world Ford's top electric vehicle and intelligent networking technology. With the advent of the electrified era, Ford will also bring more and more electric models.
