The Volkswagen ID. AERO concept car was officially launched in the world in the middle of 2022. The new car will be built on the MEB platform and positioned as a pure electric medium and large sedan. The mass-production version will be sold in the Chinese market first, and will be put into production by FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC-Volkswagen. It will be released in the first half of 2023 and officially delivered in the second half. As a global model, the ID. AERO will also be sold in Europe and North America.
In terms of appearance, ID. AERO adopts the design language of the Volkswagen ID. family, and the overall shape is simple and smooth. The front face adopts a closed grille, the lower part uses a honeycomb front surround, the upper part is equipped with a through-type LED light strip, and the middle is the luminous Logo of Volkswagen, with honeycomb-shaped headlights on the left and right sides and three-point daytime running lights, which make its front face very recognizable.
The side of the body adopts a slip-back design, the waistline runs from the front to the rear of the car, and the black roof is matched with a silver frame, showing a strong sense of fashion. At the same time, the new car is also equipped with hidden door handles and large rims with low wind resistance design. The fenders on both sides and the door handles are also equipped with lights.
The rear of the car is short and compact, equipped with through-type taillights. The interior of the lamp group also uses a honeycomb design. The addition of diamond-shaped elements enhances the recognition. The small ducktail spoiler combined with the bright black rear surround components at the bottom is very sporty.
In terms of body size, the Volkswagen ID. AERO concept car has a length, width and height of 4975*1897*1528mm and a wheelbase of 2966mm.
Besides, the new car will adopt a new interior design style, the overall shape is very simple. The center control screen adopts a floating design, the LCD instrument is embedded in the center console, with a new style of steering wheel. A large number of straight lines are used in the car, and the air-conditioning outlet is designed with a through-type design, equipped with silver chrome trim, and connected with the door panel, which increases the visual width of the car. The door panels and seats also feature diamond-shaped trim, creating a certain premium feel.
The official did not publish the power parameters of the ID. AERO this time, but the new car will use a 77kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a cruising range of 620km under WLTP conditions.
With the transformation of Volkswagen's electrification, this global model may become the successor of Passat and Magotan in terms of positioning.
